About The Recipes Table

The Recipes Table is an independent recipe publication for everyday home cooking. Everything here is published under The Recipes Table Kitchen byline, and every recipe is written with one goal: helping you get a good meal on the table.

Kitchen Origins

Our Story

Most home cooks know this moment. The timer goes off, you open the oven, and what’s inside doesn’t look like the photo. Is it done? Does it need five more minutes or fifteen? The recipe doesn’t say.

Sometimes it’s a total time of 45 minutes, with “chill overnight” waiting in step six. Sometimes a sauce turns grainy and nothing in the instructions explains why.

The Recipes Table grew out of those moments. We wanted a place that answers the questions people actually have while they’re cooking: how thick the batter should look, what “golden” really means, and what to do when something goes wrong halfway through.

We believe a recipe should work for whoever is reading it, whether it’s your first time making the dish or your twentieth. That means exact measurements, signs you can see and feel, and instructions plain enough to follow with flour on your hands.

That’s what we’re building: a recipe site you come back to on a busy Tuesday night and in the week before Christmas, because you trust it not to leave out the part that matters.

Our Approach to Recipes

Recipes from The Recipes Table Kitchen explain the steps that make or break a dish. Our homemade chicken pot pie has you cool the filling before it goes into the crust, so the bottom doesn’t turn soggy. Our creamy baked mac and cheese adds the cheese off the heat, which keeps the sauce smooth.

Total times include resting, chilling and soaking, so our Christmas cheesecake is listed at just over 10 hours, most of it hands-off. Before a recipe goes live, we check that the steps match the ingredient list and that the recipe card matches the post, so you can cook from the card alone.

Visual Cues

Sensory doneness indicators, textures, and aromas instead of guess-times.

Honest Timing

Total times account for dough chills, resting periods, and cooling windows.

Matched Cards

Printable recipe cards match article steps so you can cook from the card alone.

What You’ll Find Here

Weeknight main dishes, soups and chilis, breakfast and salads and sides, along with desserts, baking and drinks, including our own versions of coffee shop favorites. Our Christmas recipes cover holiday cookies, candy and party food, and our recipe collections bring several recipes for one dish or occasion together in one place.

Our Ingredient Philosophy

Our recipes are written without pork, and we aim to leave wine, beer and spirits out. When a classic version uses bacon or cooks with wine, we swap in turkey or beef bacon, stock or juice, and the recipe says so.

A few everyday ingredients are less clear-cut. Vanilla extract contains alcohol, Dijon mustard is often made with wine, and cheese, marshmallows and store-bought pastry can contain animal-derived ingredients that vary by brand. Where it matters, we try to flag it so you can check the label. Diet labels such as “Halal-friendly” are editorial guidance, not a certification.
