Terms & Conditions

Effective date: October 22, 2026•Last updated: October 22, 2026

These Terms & Conditions explain the rules for using The Recipes Table, permitted personal uses of our recipes, content guidelines for reader reviews, and our culinary disclaimers.

Terms at a Glance
  • Free for home cooking: Browse, cook, print, and share our recipes freely for personal use.
  • Community review standards: Helpful, genuine reader feedback without commercial spam or harassment.
  • Culinary guidance: Recipes are provided as-is for home cooking with safe food handling responsibilities.

1. Introduction and Acceptance of Terms

These Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) apply to your use of The Recipes Table at therecipestable.com (the “site”). The site is an independent recipe publication, and its recipes and guides are published under The Recipes Table Kitchen byline. “We,” “us” and “our” refer to The Recipes Table. “You” means anyone who visits or uses the site.

By using the site, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the site.

Two other documents work alongside these Terms: our Privacy Policy, which explains how information is handled, and our Disclaimer, which covers cooking results, food safety, nutrition and allergies in more detail.

2. About The Recipes Table and Free Access

The Recipes Table publishes recipes, cooking guides and recipe collections for home cooks. You can read more about our approach on our About page.

Everything on the site is free to read. There are no accounts, subscriptions, paid features or purchases, and you don't need to give us personal information to use the site. The site doesn't currently run any advertising network or sell products. If that changes, we'll update these Terms where needed.

We may add, change or remove recipes, features or pages at any time.

3. Permitted Use of Recipes and Website Content

We want people to cook from our recipes and share them. Here's what that looks like.

What you're welcome to do

  • Cook our recipes for yourself, your family, friends, gatherings or any other occasion. These Terms cover our written content and images, not the act of making a dish.
  • Print recipe cards with the Print button for personal cooking, including giving a printed copy to family or friends.
  • Share links to any page on the site through the Share button, email, messaging apps or social media. Link previews that platforms create automatically are fine.
  • Save recipes to Pinterest with the Save button on our recipe images.
  • Quote a short excerpt, such as a recipe name and a sentence or two of description, with a clear credit to The Recipes Table and a link to the original page.
  • Adapt a recipe for your own blog or social post by writing the method in your own words and using your own photos. We'd appreciate a credit and a link back.

What needs our written permission

  • republishing full recipes, articles, recipe cards or substantial parts of them on another website, app, publication or social account
  • using our images outside the Pinterest Save button or a link to our page, such as uploading them to your own site or feed
  • selling or charging for our content, including printed recipe cards, ebooks or collections built from it
  • presenting our content as your own or removing our credit
  • using our content in a way that suggests we endorse you, your product or your business

To ask for permission, use our Contact page. Nothing in these Terms limits uses that the law allows, such as fair use.

4. Intellectual Property and Copyright

What belongs to us

Unless we say otherwise, the original content we create for The Recipes Table belongs to us and is protected by copyright and other laws. That includes our recipe introductions, written instructions, tips and guides, recipe card layouts, the original design and arrangement of the site, and, to the extent protected by law, the images created for the site. It doesn't include the third-party material described below.

What nobody owns

Copyright generally doesn't protect a plain list of ingredients, basic cooking methods or the idea for a dish, and you're free to use those. We don't claim ownership of recipe ideas or cooking techniques themselves. Our rights cover the specific way we've written and presented our recipes.

Material that belongs to others

Some material on the site belongs to others and is used under their licenses. Our typefaces, Playfair Display and Plus Jakarta Sans, are licensed under the SIL Open Font License, and our icons come from the Lucide icon set under the ISC License. Brand names and trademarks mentioned on the site belong to their owners (see Section 5). The owners of this material keep their rights, and these Terms don't give anyone more rights to it than its license allows.

5. Third-Party Trademarks and Brand References

Some recipes mention brand names, such as Dutch Bros, Oreo or Velveeta, and our copycat recipes recreate the flavor of restaurant or store-bought favorites at home. We use these names only to identify products and describe recipes. All trademarks belong to their owners.

The Recipes Table isn't affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by any brand, restaurant or manufacturer mentioned on the site unless a post clearly says so. Our copycat recipes are our own versions, not official recipes from those brands.

6. Reader Reviews, Ratings and Submitted Content

How reviews work

You can leave a star rating and written review on recipe pages. A review includes the display name you choose, your rating and your comment. For how review information is handled, see our Privacy Policy.

Reviews are open to people aged 13 or older. The site doesn't verify ages, so by submitting a review you confirm that you meet this requirement.

Review guidelines

Reviews should reflect your genuine experience with a recipe or a real question about it. Please don't submit reviews that:

  • are spam or advertising, or include links, promo codes or affiliate links
  • harass, threaten, insult or discriminate against anyone
  • contain hateful, obscene or sexually explicit material
  • include personal contact details, such as a phone number, email address or home address, yours or anyone else's
  • copy someone else's writing or infringe anyone's rights
  • are fake or misleading, such as reviews written for payment or on behalf of a business
  • break any law

Moderation

Every review is held for moderation before it appears, and not every review will be approved. We may approve, decline or later remove a review, without notice, if it doesn't follow these guidelines. We don't decline reviews just because they're negative. An approved review reflects the views of the person who wrote it, not ours, and we don't verify what reviewers say.

Your rights in your review

You keep ownership of your review. By submitting it, you give us non-exclusive, royalty-free permission to store, display, format and moderate it on The Recipes Table, including as part of a recipe's star rating, for as long as it's published on the site. That permission ends when the review is removed, apart from any copies that remain in backups or records for a limited time.

By submitting a review, you confirm it's your own writing and that you have the right to share it. To ask us to remove a review you posted, see Section 12.

7. Acceptable Website Use and Prohibited Conduct

Please use the site in a way that doesn't harm it or other readers. You agree not to:

  • scrape or copy the site in bulk with automated tools, including to build datasets, train AI models or create a competing recipe collection (search engines that index the site in line with our robots.txt file are welcome)
  • send automated, repeated or fake review submissions, or try to manipulate ratings
  • probe, test or attack the site's security, or try to get around moderation or access restrictions
  • interfere with the site or its hosting, for example through denial-of-service attacks, excessive requests or malicious code
  • frame the site or present its pages as part of another website
  • use the site in any way that breaks the law

If someone misuses the site, we may block their access or take other reasonable steps to protect it.

8. Recipe Information, Food Safety and Nutrition

Our recipes are written for general home cooking and information. They aren't professional, medical or nutritional advice. Results depend on things we can't control, such as your oven and equipment, ingredient brands, altitude, humidity and substitutions, so treat times and temperatures as guides and use the doneness cues in each recipe.

You're responsible for safe food handling in your kitchen, including hygiene, preventing cross-contamination, storing food properly, and cooking meat, poultry, seafood and eggs to safe internal temperatures.

Nutrition information is an estimate and will vary with brands, portion sizes and changes you make. No recipe is guaranteed to be free of any allergen, and product formulations change, so always check ingredient labels if you or anyone you're cooking for has allergies or dietary needs. Diet labels on our recipes are editorial guidance, not certifications.

Our Disclaimer covers these points in more detail.

9. External Websites, Pinterest and Third-Party Platforms

The site links to other websites, including Pinterest. We don't control those sites and aren't responsible for their content, availability or practices. Their own terms and policies apply when you visit them.

The Pinterest Save button opens Pinterest's own window for saving a pin, and anything you save or share there is governed by Pinterest's terms and policies. We aren't affiliated with Pinterest. The Share button uses your device's or browser's sharing options, and what happens after you share depends on the app you choose.

10. Website Availability, Warranties and Liability

Availability

We try to keep the site available and accurate, but we can't promise it will always be online, error-free or secure, and we may change or pause it at any time. If you spot a mistake in a recipe, please let us know so we can review it.

No warranties

The site and its content are provided “as is” and “as available.” To the extent the law allows, we don't make warranties about the site or its content, including that a recipe will produce a particular result, that information is complete or current, or that the site is free of errors or harmful components.

Limitation of liability

The Recipes Table is a free resource. To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for losses or damages arising from your use of the site or your reliance on its content, such as a dish that doesn't turn out as expected, damaged equipment, or problems with third-party websites. The same applies to outcomes that depend on how food is chosen, handled, stored or prepared in your kitchen, including foodborne illness or allergic reactions, which is why Section 8 and our Disclaimer ask you to follow safe food practices and check ingredient labels.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that can't be excluded or limited under the law that applies to you, or affects consumer rights you can't give up.

11. Copyright Concerns and Reporting Procedure

If you believe content on The Recipes Table, including a reader review, uses your copyrighted work without permission, email [email protected] with “Copyright concern” in the subject line and include:

  • a description of the work you believe has been copied
  • the URL of the page where the material appears
  • your name and contact details
  • a statement that you believe in good faith the use isn't authorized by you, your agent or the law
  • a statement that your notice is accurate and that you own the rights or are authorized to act for the owner
  • your physical or electronic signature (typing your full name is fine)

We'll review each notice and may remove or change the material while we look into it. If material you posted was removed and you believe that was a mistake, contact us with an explanation and we'll take another look. Please only send a notice if you have a genuine claim, since knowingly false claims can carry legal consequences.

12. Changes to These Terms and Contact Information

Changes

We may update these Terms as the site changes, for example if we add advertising, new features or new ways for readers to contribute. We'll post the updated version on this page and change the “Last updated” date. If you keep using the site after an update, the updated Terms apply.

General

If any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest of the Terms is intended to remain in effect. If we don't enforce a part of these Terms right away, that doesn't mean we've given up the right to rely on it later. These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy and Disclaimer, make up the full terms for using the site.
